Lalita Ghat is marked by the tall, carved wooden balconies of the Nepali Temple that overhang its stone steps. Built in the early nineteenth century by the King of Nepal, Rana Bahadur Shah, the site reflects a long-standing architectural link between Varanasi and the Himalayan kingdom. Legend says the King found solace here during his exile and ordered the construction to replicate the pagoda style of Kathmandu. The temple remains a quiet refuge where the intricate wood carvings hold the history of that royal devotion.
