This alley serves as the primary approach to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the gold-domed center of Varanasi. Pilgrims have pressed through these shadows for centuries, brushing past shops overflowing with marigold garlands and copper incense burners. The intensity of the crush here comes from the constant motion of devotees pushing toward the inner sanctum, eager for a brief glimpse.
