Pancha Ganga Ghat

Pancha Ganga Ghat features a steep stone embankment crowned by the prominent minarets of the Alamgir Mosque. Legend says this spot marks the confluence of five sacred rivers, including the invisible Saraswati and the celestial Ganges. The current mosque occupies the site of a Bindu Madhav temple destroyed in the seventeenth century by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Priests still maintain small shrines near the water where pilgrims submerge themselves, marking the edge of a landscape shaped by centuries of shifting religious authority.
