LOOM BANARAS

other

The front of Loom Banaras features intricate, hand-carved wooden panels that frame the entrance like a traditional weaver’s loom. This space serves as a dedicated archive for the centuries-old silk weaving techniques of Varanasi. It began as a small family project to document rare patterns from the nineteen sixties that were vanishing as mass production took over the market. Inside, visitors find looms currently at work, where weavers recreate brocades that once required months of labor for a single yard of fabric.
