Keltole

Keltole is a narrow, stone-paved square marked by the tall, gilded statue of a kneeling bird—a garuda—facing the temple of Seto Machindranath. This intersection acts as a major junction for the chariot festival of the white deity. During the annual procession, the massive, multi-storied wooden chariot stops here for days. Crowds pack the square to offer incense and rice to the idol as it sits in the middle of the street, temporarily blocking all movement through this ancient trade corridor.
