Kilagal is a dense, intersectional hub in old Kathmandu marked by the vibrant, multi-tiered roof of the Yita Chapu temple. This site functions as the traditional home of the Chwasa Ajima, a protective deity worshipped during the festival of Yenya. Locals often leave offerings here to ward off misfortune. Centuries ago, the square served as a critical stop for merchants carrying goods between Tibet and India. Today, the narrow alleys around the temple remain crowded with grain merchants and metal workers.
