Kayeta Hiti is a stone water spout set into a sunken rectangular basin, framed by a carved wooden cornice that dates back to the seventeenth century. Unlike the grander, royal spouts nearby, this one served the daily needs of the local neighborhood. Local legend claims that the water flowing here comes from the same source as the royal taps, fed by an ancient underground canal system. Neighborhood residents still come here with copper vessels to collect water for their morning prayers and household rituals.
