The stone walls of the Williams Cottage are tucked behind a simple picket fence on Marine Parade. Built in eighteen seventy-six, the structure served as a home for William and Susan Williams, a young couple who arrived in Queenstown during the height of the gold rush. While neighbors constructed larger, temporary buildings to chase quick profits, the Williams family chose local schist rock for their permanent residence. It remains one of the oldest surviving cottages in the town center today.
