Queenstown Bay Beach sits as a narrow crescent of sand along the edge of Lake Wakatipu, bordered by the dark, rhythmic lapping of deep glacial water. Before the town became a hub for tourists, this shoreline served as a rough landing point for gold miners. In the eighteen sixties, men arrived here by boat, dumping crates and equipment directly onto the sand.
