The Queenstown War Memorial sits as a stone cenotaph on the edge of the Marine Parade, distinguished by a bronze figure of a soldier standing at ease. The monument commemorates local men who died during the First and Second World Wars. A century ago, the community raised the funds to place this memorial here by the lake. One local family had three sons listed among the names on the plaque, all of whom died in the same week during the Battle of Passchendaele.
