Williams Cottage

Williams Cottage stands out for its low, whitewashed stone walls and a steep roof made of corrugated iron, a design typical of the mid-nineteenth century miners. William Williams built this house in eighteen sixty-five, back when Queenstown was a rough collection of tents and timber shacks. He used local schist rock, hauling the heavy slabs from the nearby hills to create a permanent home for his family while other prospectors drifted toward the next gold strike.
