The Robert Falcon Scott Memorial Boulder is a massive piece of rough-hewn granite sitting in a small garden plot. It is inscribed with the names of the five men who perished in the nineteen twelve return journey from the South Pole. Scott himself lived in Christchurch, but the residents of Queenstown gathered the funds for this stone to honor the expedition crew. It remains the only memorial dedicated to the entire party, anchored by a plaque that speaks of their endurance and resolve.
