Kuri

The two charred, blackened timber beams salvaged from the nineteenth century Queenstown wharf form the primary structural support for the entrance to Kuri. This building houses a restaurant centered on open-fire cooking, a nod to the rough, utilitarian history of the lakefront’s early maritime industry. A fire destroyed the original wharf in eighteen eighty-five, and these reclaimed pieces were recovered from the lake floor decades later, still holding the iron spikes driven into them by the men who built the town’s first gateway.
