LOLA Lorraine

other

The Lorraine viaduct dominates the skyline here, a massive stone arch bridge that carries trains and pedestrians high above the Aar river. Below the tracks, the LOLA Lorraine stands in a former industrial space built to serve the railway workers. It functions now as a neighborhood cultural center and restaurant. During the nineteen eighties, local residents occupied these abandoned railway warehouses to prevent demolition, creating a space for concerts and community meals that eventually gained official recognition from the city.
