Bath Street is paved entirely with smooth, gray flagstones and framed by identical colonnades on either side. These curved, neoclassical porticos create a narrow, formal corridor that feels disconnected from the rest of the city. In seventeen ninety-five, John Palmer designed this street to connect the Cross Bath to the infirmary. Patients suffering from gout or rheumatism used these covered walkways to travel between their lodgings and the thermal waters without getting wet. Today, the street remains a quiet, sheltered limestone passage.
