National Trust - Bath Assembly Rooms

The Bath Assembly Rooms occupy a grand stone building with a row of five tall, arched windows facing Bennett Street. Built in the seventeen seventies, these rooms hosted the city’s social elite for balls, card games, and concerts. During a severe air raid in nineteen forty-two, an incendiary bomb gutted the interior, leaving behind only the outer shell. Workers spent decades reconstructing the ornate plasterwork and chandeliers from old photographs, restoring the ballrooms to the precise look of the eighteenth century.
