Saracens Head

The Saracens Head on Broad Street wears a stone facade that dates back to the early eighteenth century, though its history reaches much further. This tavern claims the title of the oldest pub in Bath. Local tradition holds that Admiral Lord Nelson stayed here in seventeen ninety-seven, and Charles Dickens found a room in this building while researching for The Pickwick Papers. The narrow passage through the inn leads to a courtyard that has served travelers and residents for hundreds of years.
