The Yellow Shop on Broad Street wears a coat of bright, mustard-colored paint that stands out against the muted limestone of the rest of Bath. It occupies a tight, narrow footprint, squeezing its three stories into a space barely wide enough for a doorway and a window. In eighteen forty-eight, it functioned as a grocery store, but the building actually dates back to the seventeenth century. The timber frame remains tucked away behind the plaster, a skeleton from a much older city.
