The Star Inn

The Star Inn features a rare, surviving example of a late Victorian public bar, complete with its original wooden screen and gas lighting fittings. It occupies a modest terrace building on the edge of the city center, maintaining an interior that has escaped the modernization projects common in most nearby pubs. In the nineteen seventies, the local council attempted to force renovations, but the regulars organized a successful campaign to keep the space exactly as it was.
