The Albany building dominates the corner of Old Hall Street and Albany Road with its dark, imposing sandstone facade and a heavy, central stone balcony. During the American Civil War, Confederate agents operated from offices hidden within its upper floors, brokering deals and coordinating secret efforts to secure supplies for the South. Their presence inside these walls made this building a focal point of international intrigue throughout the eighteen sixties.
