Holy Trinity Church

The tower of Holy Trinity Church stands out for its double-row of small, arched windows near the top, a clear sign of its late Anglo-Saxon origins. While much of the city underwent heavy reconstruction over the centuries, this masonry has held its ground since before the Norman Conquest. A local story persists that the church served as a hidden refuge for residents during the chaotic fires of the early twelfth century. The walls remain, bearing the scars of nearly a thousand years of weather.
