Constantine the Great

The bronze statue of Constantine the Great depicts a man seated on a chair, resting one hand on the hilt of his sword. He wears the armor of a Roman emperor, yet his face carries a weary, human expression. This is the spot where, in three hundred six, the Roman legions proclaimed Constantine their new emperor. He went on to change the course of the western world, but his rule began right here, in the cold, muddy outpost of Eboracum.
