Dean's Park

Dean’s Park sits in the quiet shadow of York Minster, defined by the long, jagged silhouette of the cathedral’s northern wall. This expanse of green occupies the former site of the Archbishop’s palace, where kings once stayed and official business hummed. In the fourteenth century, the area served as a private garden. During a bitter siege in sixteen forty-four, the palace took heavy fire, eventually leaving behind this open space where the ruins of the old chapel still poke through the grass.
