Lady Peckett's Yard

other

Lady Peckett's Yard is a narrow, enclosed alleyway that cuts between the busy shops of High Ousegate and the quiet space of Saint Saviourgate. It takes its name from Christian Peckett, the wife of Henry Peckett, who served as the Lord Mayor of York in seventeen zero two. The couple lived in the large house at the end of the alley, and the gate was locked each night to provide them with a private, secure entrance away from the city crowds.
