The building features a folded plate roof made of thin, jagged concrete triangles that resemble a row of white shark fins. E. Stewart Williams designed this structure in nineteen sixty-one for the Coachella Valley Savings and Loan. The design utilized lightweight, pre-cast concrete to create a dramatic aesthetic that allowed for a wide-open interior space without obstructive columns. It functioned as a vault for local savings until Chase Bank took over the space. The roofline remains a distinct example of mid-century desert modernism.
