The Korakia Pensione sits behind a tall, thick stucco wall that shuts out the street. Two Mediterranean-style villas anchor the property, joined by an open-air courtyard filled with orange trees and trickling stone fountains. Gordon Coutts, a Scottish painter who traveled through Morocco, built the original home in nineteen twenty-four. He designed the space to resemble the villas he loved in Tangier, decorating the rooms with Moroccan antiques and hosting parties for Hollywood stars.
