San Diego Chinese Historical Museum

The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum occupies the former Chinese Mission building, a distinctive two-story structure featuring a Chinese-style roofline with curved eaves. Built in nineteen twenty-seven, this building served as a community center for Chinese immigrants facing restrictive housing laws. During the Second World War, Quon Mane, a local merchant, bought the property to prevent its demolition. He allowed the Chinese community to use it for meetings and schooling, keeping the physical space alive until its current life as a museum.
