The Keating Hotel wears a bright, butter-yellow exterior topped by a distinct, ornate cornice that stands out against the surrounding brickwork of the Gaslamp Quarter. Built in eighteen ninety, George Keating commissioned this structure as the headquarters for his real estate and investment firm. He hired the architecture firm Reid and Reid to design it, and they created a classic Romanesque Revival facade using local granite and limestone. The building remains a sharp, singular landmark from the city's Victorian-era expansion.
