Ruocco Park

park garden

Ruocco Park anchors the edge of the harbor with a wide, curved lawn that sits directly against the water. This park occupies land that the Port of San Diego once used as a concrete industrial yard. In two thousand twelve, a private donation from the Lloyd Ruocco family turned the space into a public waterfront. A series of large, metal shade structures rise over the grass, designed to mimic the shape of giant sails caught in the wind.
