Amici Park

Amici Park features a vibrant, multi-colored bocce ball court framed by low concrete walls and shaded by mature trees. It sits on the site of a former school playground, serving as a social anchor for the descendants of the tuna fishermen who settled this neighborhood in the early twentieth century. These families gathered here to play and preserve their Italian heritage while the city changed around them. Sometimes, the click of heavy bocce balls against each other still echoes across the court today.
