The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Building features a rounded corner tower topped by a distinctive, shimmering copper dome that stands out above the flat roofs of the Gaslamp Quarter. Built in nineteen oh two, the structure served as a meeting hall for a fraternal society known for their secret rituals and charitable social work. During its early years, the building also housed a brothel on its upper floors, creating a strange proximity between the lodge members and the city’s nightlife.
