Portside Pier extends into the San Diego Bay on a concrete platform supported by dozens of pilings driven deep into the harbor floor. Before this structure opened in twenty twenty, the site held the old Anthony’s Fish Grotto, a local institution for seventy years. When the lease expired, the Port of San Diego commissioned this complex to house multiple dining options under one roof. Today, a jagged, wave-like roofline covers the deck, separating the open-air dining areas from the water below.
