The four-story brick building at the corner of Clarendon and Newbury Street features a distinct, rounded copper oriel window protruding over the sidewalk. This structure served as the workspace for the photographer Otto Grundmann, who arrived from Germany in the eighteen seventies to lead the school at the Museum of Fine Arts. He occupied the top floor as his personal studio, where he spent his days painting and photographing the city’s elite before his sudden death left his equipment behind in eighteen ninety.
