Agnes R. Katz Plaza

Agnes R. Katz Plaza features a seventy-five-foot-tall aluminum tree sculpture known as the Eye of Silence. This public space sits on a formerly vacant lot where a hotel once stood. It takes its name from Agnes Katz, a local philanthropist whose family provided the funding for its creation. Louise Bourgeois designed the sculpture, and the surrounding curved seating areas serve as an outdoor theater for small performances. The plaza exists to bridge the gap between the busy business district and the nearby cultural district.
