The Omni William Penn Hotel wears a terra cotta facade topped by a distinct, blocky crown that rises above the surrounding Pittsburgh skyline. Henry Clay Frick commissioned the building in nineteen oh six to provide the city with a grand space for high society meetings. He famously wagered he could build a hotel that rivaled any in New York City. Guests stepped inside to find a lobby clad in marble and gold leaf, a design meant to match the city's industrial wealth.
