Ghost Ballet For The East Bank Machineworks

monument

The Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks rises as a tangled, white steel sculpture standing nearly forty feet tall. It occupies the former site of a structural steel plant, composed of salvaged remnants from the old Nashville Bridge Company that once operated here. Alice Aycock designed the piece to echo the industrial motion of the factory floor, with curves and loops mimicking moving machinery. The steel beams that supported city infrastructure now rest as a permanent, motionless dance along the riverbank.
