Frist Art Museum

The Frist Art Museum is housed in the former Nashville main post office, a nineteen thirties limestone building defined by its stark white facade and classical columns. While it operates as an art museum today, it was built to handle the city’s mail during the Great Depression. In the nineteen eighties, postal workers discovered a live bomb mailed to a local judge, which had sat undetected in the sorting room for days before it finally failed to detonate as intended during inspection.
