The Tennessee Map Plaza features a massive, circular terrazzo mosaic depicting the state of Tennessee set directly into the pavement. Installed in nineteen seventy-eight, the map stretches across the plaza floor, detailing county lines, major rivers, and the state’s winding topography in inlaid stone. It sits between the State Capitol and the Legislative Plaza, serving as a walkable atlas. Engineers mapped the state's geography to scale, ensuring that visitors could stand on one end of the state and cross the map.
