Atlas Building

The Atlas Building stands out with its ornate, yellow-painted facade and the bold Atlas figure perched high above the entrance, shouldering a globe. Built in nineteen twelve for the Atlas Assurance Company, the structure served as a statement of stability during a period of rapid growth in Western Australia. Inside, Arthur G. Newman designed the interiors with polished jarrah wood. The building retains its early twentieth-century character, distinguishing itself from the neighboring glass towers that define the modern streetscape of central Perth today.
