Florence Hummerston Kiosk

The Florence Hummerston Kiosk sits by the water, recognizable by its distinct limestone walls and red tile roof. Originally built in nineteen twenty-nine as a tea house for Esplanade patrons, it served as a social hub during a time when outdoor leisure became a city priority. When the government moved to demolish the building in the nineteen eighties, Florence Hummerston led a public campaign to save it. Workers eventually dismantled the structure stone by stone and relocated it to this current spot.
