The Doktor-Friedrich-Morton-Weg is a narrow, sloped lane winding away from the main cluster of Hallstatt houses toward the higher mountain slopes. It carries the name of a former museum director who spent decades cataloging the prehistoric graves discovered in the nearby salt mines. Morton was the man who turned those fragmented artifacts into a coherent record of the Iron Age. He lived in a house near this path, surrounded by his finds, while mapping the subterranean history of the entire region.
