Statue of the Holy Trinity

The Statue of the Holy Trinity stands in the center of the market square, topped by a golden sunburst cross that catches the light from the mountains. This limestone column was erected in seventeen forty-four to protect the village from fires and natural disasters. It replaced an earlier wooden version that had rotted away. When the stone carver finished the work, he included a small, carved relief of the village itself at the base, documenting how Hallstatt looked before the great fire of seventeen fifty.
