The Hallstatt Skywalk perches on a sheer cliff face, extending outward with no support directly beneath its steel frame. This platform hangs over the village eight hundred feet below, accessible only by a funicular that climbs the mountain. Miners carved the salt deposits inside this mountain for seven thousand years, creating the wealth that built the town. In seventeen thirty-four, workers discovered the perfectly preserved body of a prehistoric miner in the salt, still wearing his ancient leather clothing and clutching his bronze tools.
