Müllerstiege

other

The Müllerstiege is a steep, narrow wooden staircase that climbs directly up the mountainside between the closely packed houses of Hallstatt. It takes its name from the Miller family, who lived in the house at the very top. For generations, these stairs served as the primary path for the family to reach the town center. While modern tourists use it to catch a view of the rooftops and the lake, the steps remain a private shortcut through the town’s vertical geography.
