The house of General Angel Panev features a heavy stone base topped by an intricate, ornamental facade of decorative moldings and wrought iron balconies. Built in nineteen oh nine by the architect Pencho Koychev, the structure marks the era when Sofia began shifting toward European urban styles. General Panev, a decorated military commander, commissioned this residence at the height of his career. He insisted on details that signaled his status, including a prominent corner turret that commands the intersection of the streets below.
