The Yablanski House stands out on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard with its heavy wrought iron balconies and the elaborate, mask-like faces carved into its limestone facade. Designed by the architect Friedrich Grünanger in nineteen oh six, this mansion served as the private residence of Dimitar Yablanski, a former mayor of Sofia. Yablanski lived in high style, filling the interior with Italian marble and velvet wall coverings, but after he died, the building shifted through lives as a diplomatic mission, a hospital, and a club.
