A massive, limestone monument topped by a lion dominates Doktorska Gradina, serving as the center point of the park. It marks the final resting place of Russian doctors and nurses who died during the liberation war of eighteen seventy-seven. Sculptor Arnoldo Zocchi designed the structure, featuring the names of those fallen soldiers carved into the stone. The park itself grew around this memorial, providing a quiet space for medical professionals and city residents to gather under the shade of mature trees.
