Continental Herbal Co. Ltd.

The brick building on the corner of East Georgia and Heatley displays a faded, hand-painted sign for the Continental Herbal Company. In the nineteen twenties, this space served as a manufacturing hub for traditional Chinese medicines. Workers here processed dried roots, herbs, and bark, packaging them into remedies for the local community. The proprietor, Wong Kwong-sun, navigated shifting regulations and trade barriers to keep these treatments available for decades. Today, the painted lettering remains as the primary trace of that era.
