Alexandra Park

Alexandra Park centers on a bronze statue of Sir Evelyn Wood, a British field marshal who never actually visited Vancouver. In nineteen oh eight, the city accepted the sculpture as a gift from a local businessman, Charles Woodward. The park grounds themselves trace back to the city's early development, when officials designated this block to preserve a green space within the dense West End neighborhood. It remains a small, rectangular clearing surrounded by high rise apartment buildings and quiet residential streets.
