Two massive, interconnected bronze wedding rings perch atop steel pillars at the intersection of Beach Avenue and Denman Street. Created by artist Dennis Oppenheim, these structures lean precariously toward one another as if caught in a permanent gravitational pull. When the wind blows hard enough, the rings vibrate, creating a low, resonant humming sound that carries across English Bay. Passersby often leave small padlocks attached to the metal mesh, turning the sculpture into a makeshift monument for commitments made in the city.
